Matt McCoy is a West Texas native, born and raised in Midland, Texas. After graduating from Midland High School, he received a degree in Civil Engineering from Texas A&M University. Matt worked on an array of oil and gas projects while working as a civil engineer, including pad site construction for Haynesville shale gas wells and facility layout design for Barnett Shale batteries in North Texas. Matt soon left the civil engineering firms to work for operators in the O&G industry, starting with two smaller operators, Caza Petroleum and Element Petroleum, working as an operations engineer overseeing drilling, completions, and operations. Matt joined Diamondback Energy in September of 2018 as a senior production engineer, overseeing a field producing 25,000 BOE/day, until moving into the facilities group in March of 2022, where he currently works as senior facilities engineer. Outside of work, Matt is an avid golfer, father of two incredible kids, Richard and Mary Catherine, and husband to his amazing wife Jessica.
